This position is located at the Iwakuni Veterinary Treatment Facility. Responsibilities Serves as the point of contact for the day-to-day front office operations of a veterinary clinic. Coordinates with clinic management to establish clinic schedule and appointment availability. Receives telephone calls and visitors to the clinic, determines the nature of call or visit, obtains identifying information, and verifies the patient's eligibility for treatment. Updates the existing medical record or collects sufficient information to prepare new record. Provides concise accurate information to veterinary care provider on nature of the visit. Dispenses medications, annotates prescriptions and refills prescriptions in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Serves as clinic ordering official and Government Purchase Cardholder. Processes purchasing documents. At various times, orders, receives, and inventories veterinary supplies and pharmaceuticals. Completes bi-weekly payroll reports. Prepares and submits required end of month reports. Assists with preparation of the yearly clinical budget. Initiates personnel actions at the direction of management. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Progressively work experience which demonstrates the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of the position. Basic computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Suite or equivalent. Experience in using a point of sales software. Basic arithmetic expertise to balance cash draw, accept payments and provide change accurately. Typing proficiency - 40WPM. Best Qualified Criteria: Clerical experience in a Veterinary Clinic or equivalent or working in an outpatient medical facility/operations as clerical-administrative support. Education Additional Information Area of Consideration: The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is Iwakuni, Japan and surrounding area within 50-mile radius. (Involuntarily separated military member or military spouse/family member applies as well. Spouses/family members do not receive preference until arrival at the overseas location. The incumbent must be a U.S. Citizen or legal U.S. Resident residing in/around the area as noted in this Job Opportunity Announcement. Salary Information: Salary is pro-rated based on a 40-hour work week. Hourly salary is: NF-03: $33,914pa (16.25ph) - $34,957pa (16.75ph) PCS Costs: Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials: This is a pay-banded position. Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600. Note: this position is not authorized for Sunday premium pay and night differential. Incentives and Bonuses: Incentives will not be paid. Foreign Overseas Allowances: Foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility. Scheduling Information: Flexible/Intermittent (0-20 guaranteed hours per week however may be scheduled to work between 0-40 hours per week based on mission needs).
