The Actuarial Services function resides within the Actuarial Services & Medical Economics department. Actuarial Services & Medical Economics works closely with Business Intelligence, Data Science, Clinical Informatics, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Accounting. Reporting to the Manager, Actuarial Services, this role, Actuarial Analyst , will provide key contributions to financial reporting, forecasting, model development and maintenance, and data assets held by the Actuarial Services department. You will be responsible for updating and maintaining models, processes, and code sets that deliver insights into Medicare Advantage, Part D, and Medicaid financial performance. As CCA continues to grow, you will be part of a dynamic team with opportunities ranging from pricing and reserving to financial reporting and predictive analytics.
What You'll Be Doing:
Assist in updating and maintaining models and data pipelines supporting core valuation functions - (e.g. IBNR reserving, premium revenue forecasting, risk adjustment, etc.)
Ability to learn and understand SAS, SQL, and Python code underlying actuarial data assets; make updates to code as needed
Assist in developing new models and SAS/SQL/Python/R scripts to meet new analytic requirements
Analyze and explain drivers of medical expense and premium revenue trends.
Develop or expand expertise in Medicaid and Medicare Advantage reimbursement systems.
Promote and shape actuarial best practices
Communicate technical information to a broad audience, both internal and external
Provide an effective level of visibility into financial results to support analysis, reporting, and business outcomes
What We're Looking For:
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or related fieldRequired Experience:
Successful completion of 2+ exams offered by the Society of Actuaries, plus an ongoing commitment to attain an Associateship or a Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (ASA/FSA)Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Familiarity with SQL and one or more statistical programming languages (SAS, Python, or R)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision on projects/tasks assigned
Well organized and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
Possess a collaborative attitude and ability to work well with others
