• The Manager, Accounting will report to the Sr. Manager, Accounting, and collaborate with Sr. Director, International Accounting Controller, and other team members to oversee day-to-day accounting functions. This includes tasks such as managing the monthly close process, conducting balance sheet reconciliations, overseeing statutory reporting and audits, handling cash management, and ensuring compliance with US Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) requirements.
• Identify internal process challenges and take proactive measures by suggesting, executing, and overseeing corrective actions to address and manage these issues.
• Offer inspirational leadership by effectively communicating the vision and strategy to the accounting team. Foster a positive atmosphere that instills confidence in leadership and teamwork, driving towards achieving impactful business outcomes.
This role can either be based in Strasbourg as an Hybrid role OR it can also be a Remote role if you commit to travel once a month in our office in Strasbourg.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage all aspects of France entity general accounting, including but not limited to Monthly close process, Statutory reporting and audit, Cash management and US Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
• Provide accounting controls in accordance with US and local GAAP, ensuring compliance with SOX section 404 controls procedures.
• Manage monthly and quarterly accounting closing processes to ensure timely closures.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarter-end and year-end financial statements for accuracy and completeness in the relevant countries.
• Review and/or prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation in accordance with US GAAP and Group Accounting Policy.
• Lead and manage local statutory audits, including establishing and maintaining relationships with external auditors, and coordinating with corporate directives.
• Act as the key local representative with US Finance, overseeing intercompany relationships and coordinating with the US general ledger and consolidation team.
• Lead and support corporate quarterly and year-end financial audit activities.
• Oversee local regulatory and tax compliance, including VAT, corporation tax, annual return, and other relevant obligations, in coordination with Corporate Tax directives.
• Provide functional and technical guidance on GAAP accounting issues to local management.
• Support local and EMEA management with quality service in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expenses management.
• Review and optimize cash flow management and forecasting.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as Revenue, Inter-company, IT and FP&A, to develop and automate financial information preparation and analysis, and enhance reporting processes.
• Play a key role in motivating, developing, and coaching finance staff, including identifying and utilizing team potential for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Set clear and achievable goals for team members, while consistently offering meaningful feedback on a regular basis, including participating in quarterly goal alignment conversations and conducting annual performance evaluations.
• Continuously review and assess current practices, procedures, systems, and reporting, and recommend, develop, and implement improvements aligned with business requirements.
• Perform any other ad-hoc duties that may arise within the post holder's capability to ensure business continuity.
Minimum Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• 2+ years of management experience
• Strong and up-to-date technical accounting expertise, including but not limited to, local and US GAAP, French GAAP, and IFRS, among others.
• Fluent in English, French and other language is a plus, and familiar with operating in an international accounting environment.
• Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving attitude, with strong ethical values.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities, with a proven track record in people management and leadership.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, or other accounting/ERP systems.
• Displays adaptability to varying workloads and efficient time management skills, including a willingness to work beyond standard hours when necessary due to global time zone considerations.
Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant, CIMA, ACCA, or other international equivalents etc.
• 7-10 years in professional accounting experience
• 3+ years of management experience
