Job Summary
TheAccountant Intern position is in our State College, PA office. Key functions of the position will be leadership, communication, intuition for business, consolidation and audit, manufacturing, construction and long-term contracts, and financial reporting. There will also be an emphasis on what we value, ethics, and safety. This individual should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.With emphasis on the integration of financial and operational teams both in the office and the field, this position is crafted to help participants develop outstanding managerial and financial accounting tools.
Main Responsibilities
Shadowing members of the accounting department as they perform their dutiesAssisting with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial recordsPreparing financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, invoices, and other documentsWorking with bookkeeping softwareHandling critical or confidential information with honesty and integrityLearning how to work as part of the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the companyTaking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operationsKnowing the importance of accounts receivable, and how they are processedBasic understanding of the calculation of the monthly close, as well as profit/lossKnowing what the various locations are responsible for reporting/providing to the accounting teamBasic understanding of the profit/loss statementKnowing what job cost analysis entails and the process of generating these reportsObserving time reporting and how payroll is generatedComparing item cost to estimations from bids- understand if we are losing or gaining money
Education
Actively working towards a degree in accounting or related field is preferred
Skills
Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principlesAptitude for math, proficiency with computersStrong verbal and written communication skillsHigh level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibilityMotivation and strong desire to tackle new challenges and learn as much as possible
