Why does the job exist?This position will supervise the fiscal staff of New Mexico State Parks. This position assists with budget preparations. This position submits the Budget Adjustment Requests (BARs) to the Department of Finance and Administration. This position is the communications leader on procurement matters for the Regional Offices and all Parks. The position must comply with all Procurement Statutes. The position coordinates fiscal activities among the region offices. The position processes journal entries and journal vouchers to correct payroll and various expenditures.
How does it get done?-Assist with the State Parks budget preparation, reconciliation, monitoring and oversight-Monitor Federal Grant Budgets-Monitor Payroll and expenditures-Serve as a conduit between SPD and ASD-Provide teamwork and supervision
Who are the customers?Internal and external customers, visitors throughout the state of New Mexico and surrounding states who are campers, hikers, and boaters that come to visit the park for a variety of reasons. Local community businesses in surrounding areas of the park.
Ideal CandidatePreferred experience:* Experience with supervision of staff including evaluations* Governmental accounting with recording and reconciling journal entries* Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) Chart of Accounts and Model Accounting Practices (MAP)* New Mexico People Soft human resources and financial management reporting system (SHARE).* Maintaining a general ledger for multiple funds* Account reconciliations* Working with Microsoft excel spreadsheets utilizing advanced functions (Pivot tables, formulas, etc.)
Minimum QualificationBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance and/or budgeting. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.
