  THE POSITION

  Do you consider yourself an accounting expert? If you possess a strong accounting background with a genuine enthusiasm for account balancing activities, invoices, budgeting, and analyzing data, you may be the ideal candidate we are looking for. The Department of Revenue is seeking an Account 1 to join our team of professionals. This position gives you the opportunity to oversee the accounting and distributions related to gaming revenue. This includes being responsible for the calculation of taxes and assessments due from each licensed gaming entity.   DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  As an Accountant 1, you will be responsible for generating, reviewing, and reconciling venue specific reports daily and bi-monthly to ensure proper invoicing of taxes and assessments. In this role, you will be required to follow established gaming procedures and be familiar with Act 71 of 2004 and Act 42 of 2017. Independent judgement will be used to identify and correct errors with accounting transactions and when determining if account balances are correct. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  Completing daily reconciliations of venue daily meter reports

  Notifying Treasury, Comptroller, and licensee of funds due each day

  Assisting with account balancing activities

  Preparing documents to move funds from the licensee to Treasury

  Reconciling accounts and preparing invoice to bill

  The employee selected for this position will be subject to the Gaming Ethics guidelines found in the Department's Standards of Conduct.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment

  Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

  Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Accounting Intern Program;or

  One year as a Financial Programs Trainee;or

  One year as a Fiscal Technician, and fifteen college credits in accounting;or

  Five years of Bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting;or

  A Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.

  Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
