Psychology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23009380) The Department of Psychology in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences is seeking an undergraduate Academic Advisor.Individual will provide academic and career advising and will assist in developing and conducting programs, resources, and departmental events. Employee will be involved in coordination of undergraduate experiential learning opportunities and will manage advising office email account, email distribution list, and voice mail. Other duties will include sharing responsibility for walk-in advising and phone coverage, certification of students for graduation, and serving as Psychology Department representative in meetings with A&S department advisors, University departments, and meeting with prospective students.Job SummaryUtilizes advanced advising knowledge, theory, and practical experience to serve as an academic liaison for students to identify academic and career goals, select appropriate courses, and plan for degree attainment. Manages small to medium-sized, moderately complex projects.Essential Functions The Academic Advisor must be able to use a computer and keyboard, and be able to use video communication technology (Skype, Zoom, Teams, etc.). Work is frequently conducted by email, telephone, in-person, or using video communication technology. The ability to communicate in a clear and concise fashion is essential.Physical Effort This position is generally sedentary within an office setting, but the ability to travel around campus occasionally is necessary.
