*This position will be filled as a Training Specialist, Senior Training Specialist, or Senior Lead Training Specialist depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.*
This position will be located in The Woodlands, TX.
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Training Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of the System Operator Qualification training program for LBA (Local Balancing Authority) operating personnel.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and deliver training to LBA operators.
Work with training team and LBA management to develop the training plan for each year.
Administrate LBA operator qualifications and modify tasks as needed while ensuring PER-005 compliance.
Communicate training status and progress to LBA leadership and stakeholders.
Participate in NERC, SERC and MISO committees that are focused on training.
Serve as subject matter expert on LBA operating procedures, tools and responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Technical associate degree or equivalent utility experience.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum experience required of the position
Technical Training Specialist: 6+ years utility industry experience with the ability to deliver, produce and develop training course material without a degree, or 3+ years of experience with a degree
Technical Training Specialist, Sr: 8+ years utility industry experience with the ability to deliver, produce and develop training course material without a degree, or 5+ years of experience with a degree
Technical Training Specialist, Sr Lead: 10+ years utility industry experience with the ability to deliver, produce and develop training course material without a degree, or 7+ years of experience with a degree
Preferred:
Experience in developing and administering training programs
LBA (local balancing authority) operator experience
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Strong Safety culture. Practical knowledge of technical skill to be taught. Able to perform technical craft techniques appropriate to the subject matter being taught. Able to effectively communicate in various mediums and various styles. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong presentation skills and public speaking. Good interpersonal skills. Customer Focus. Extensive intersystem travel required (up to 40%). Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deliverables in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with multiple levels of the organizational structure. Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multi-projects simultaneously. Must be willing to assume a storm restoration role and travel if necessary.Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
