We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Trading Apps Developer in the Financial Services industry, based in Houston, Texas. This role involves developing within our Commodity Trading Risk Management system. With your strong Python development skills and understanding of risk, you will be crucial in supporting our trading portfolios' growth.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the deployment of the new Risk PnL engine to our Americas business, collaborating closely with the business and other tech teams.
• Work closely with the Risk PnL engine development team based in London to address any development needs of the Americas business.
• Utilize the core components of the new Risk PnL engine and other parts of the Commodity Trading Risk Management system to develop reports, tools, and functionalities required by the business.
• Act as the team's ambassador in Houston, taking ownership and working independently as well as part of a team.
• Address ambiguous problems that may arise, requiring you to define not only the solution but also the question.
• Develop robust, maintainable, and extensible Python code to support the functionalities of the new Risk PnL engine.
• Work closely with trading desks and understand the technology they use to improve the Risk PnL engine's efficiency and effectiveness.
• Play a key role in the crossroads of the development of the new Risk PnL engine, facing both business priorities and technical challenges.
• Regularly collaborate with the rest of the new risk engine development team, regardless of their geographical location.
Requirements • Must have a professional background in the Financial Services industry
• Proficiency in Python programming language is required
• Experience in Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) is mandatory
• Strong understanding of trading applications and their development
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• A degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related field is preferable
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality software in a timely manner
• Knowledge of financial markets and trading systems is beneficial
