Robert Half is currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Subcontracts Payables Specialist to join our client's team in the heavy/civil construction sector. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing subcontractor payments, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of payables within the construction project's financial framework.
Overview:
The Subcontracts Payables Specialist interacts with subcontractors and internal staff to collect and review payment applications, ensuring applications are complete, accurate, and align with subcontract agreements. They will also process and enter payment applications, collaborating with project teams for review and approval and work with the Accounts Payables Supervisor to release progress and retention payments, including understanding paid-when/if-paid concepts and lien releases. In addition, they will be cross-trained to support the Contracts and Compliance Department during busy periods, covering document tracking, insurance review, certified payroll, compliance review, and more.
Responsibilities:
Review and verify subcontractor invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contract terms.
Process subcontractor payments in accordance with established procedures and timelines.
Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and subcontractors to address any discrepancies or issues related to payables.
Maintain accurate records of subcontractor transactions and payments.
Reconcile subcontractor accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to subcontractor payables.
Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance standards related to subcontractor payments.
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly pay range for this position is $27/hour to $34/hour. Benefits available with this position include: medical, dental and vision insurance (100% employer-paid for employee); life and disability insurances; participation in the company’s 401(k) plan with an employer contribution of up to 8%; 1 week of PTO in the first year (increases with tenure), 1-week of sick time, and 7 paid holidays.
Requirements
Dexter & Chaney/Spectrum/Viewpoint software usage, or similar construction-based software strongly preferred
1+ years of experience/exposure to Payment Applications, AIA format, Schedule of Values, or Pay Estimate billing types.
1+ years of experience/exposure to Conditional/Unconditional Lien Releases/Waivers
1+ years of experience/exposure to Contracts/Subcontracts (review/language)
1+ years of experience/exposure to Change Orders
Two or more years of accounting experience
Two or more years working in an accounting role for a general contractor or a construction company
High School diploma or equivalent
Must be able to speak, read, write, and compute figures in English
Must be comfortable with heavy, daily Excel usage
