The Core Services teams at Zendesk build and maintain secure, reliable, and easy to use authentication, authorization and security features for Zendesks customers, products and services.

　　Were looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our brand-new Permissions team, contributing new features to allow our customers to have fine-grained control over access to their Zendesk across all products. Ideal candidates will possess excellent problem solving skills, be driven to help customers, and be passionate about building robust access controls for large scale use cases.

　　What youll be doing

　　Deliver value directly to our customers by building and releasing secure, reliable and sophisticated access controls.Maintain excellent reliability and quality for our systems and navigate the challenges presented working at a global scale. We own some of the largest scale services within Zendesk.Champion standard methodologies, high quality code, and appropriate test coverage. We ship code frequently and fast, but stability and reliability must never be compromised.Design solutions to move us further toward a unified access management system across Zendesk services.

　　What you bring to the role

　　Required:

　　Prior experience in a backend or full-stack application engineering roleProven understanding of web application development and excellent knowledge of at least 1 server-side scripting languageExcellent communication and time-management skillsCommitted to deliveryYou believe building excellent software is a team effort and enjoy learning together through pairing, code reviews, tech talks, etc.Comfortable taking ownership of all phases of software engineering: design, development, testing, deployment, and operational issues

　　Preferred:

　　Prior experience owning Ruby or Scala services in a production environmentExperience working on large scale Identity & Access Management systems and/or familiarity with IAM industry practicesExperience using monitoring/alerting to ensure the reliability of a system

　　Our backend code is a split between Ruby on Rails and microservices written in ScalaOur frontend interfaces are written in React and EmberWe use AWS Aurora to store data in MySQL and Kafka to stream events between servicesWe use Kubernetes and AWS to deploy and scale our applications

　　The Poland annualized base salary range for this position is zł268,000.00-zł402,000.00. Please note that while the salary range represents the minimum and maximum base salary rate for this position, the actual compensation offered will be based on job related capabilities, applicable experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives that will be communicated during the offer stage.
