　　HII Unmanned Systems (HII UxS) is seeking a talented unmanned system software engineer to join our software development team! In this role, you will be responsible for joining a small cell of HII UxS team members in San Diego supporting our REMUS unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) west coast software operations and supporting customer needs. You will be actively engaged in supporting autonomy for our Unmanned system product portfolio, and in doing so will perform the following duties:

　　• Maintains software on a fleet of REMUS UUVs and equipment to ensure customer success.

　　• Imports code changes from multiple programmers.

　　• Tags versions for each released build.

　　• Maintains detailed change information between versions.

　　• Designs a regression test procedure for each release.

　　• Maintains a common code base to support new or upgraded vehicles.

　　• Builds vehicle and user interface code.

　　• Assists with loading operating systems and software configurations onto UUV and associated equipment.

　　• Provides and maintains detailed list of bug fixes, and new features with each release such that customer support can assist REMUS users.

　　• Assists customer in performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of reported incidents.

　　• Estimates software development efforts for proposals to customer.

　　• Provides input for manuals on new software and autonomy features.

　　• Provides input for training slides on new software features.

　　• Provides guidance on new release content that can be used for marketing purposes.

　　• Develops test data and test plans for requested programs and systems.

　　• Creates and reviews program and system documentation and flow charts to ensure accuracy and consistency.

　　What you will be doing...

　　Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

　　What we are looking for...

　　9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.

　　6+ years’ experience in software development and software architecture design

　　In-depth knowledge of programming languages such as C++, Java, and Python

　　In-depth knowledge of operating systems such as Windows and Linux

　　Experience in all phases of the software development life-cycle, and methods (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)

　　Strong understanding of software version control

　　Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) along with ability to foster relationship development with customers and sponsors.

　　Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills.
