About Vehicle Integration Engineer, Electric Truck Platform

At Model e, we were inspired by the success of small, mission-driven Ford teams that developed the Mustang Mach-E SUV and F-150 Lightning™ pickup, as well as Ford’s dedicated EV division in China. Similarly, dedicated teams within Model e will create the software platforms and fully networked vehicle architectures to support delightful, always-on and ever-improving vehicles and experiences that will allow us to deliver over 50% of our total sales in BEV and 33 million connected vehicles by 2030. We are building a team of the world’s best software, electrical and automotive talent and turning them loose to create insanely great electric vehicles and digital experiences for new generations of customers. These changes in our business will allow us the greatest opportunity to create value and serve customers since Henry Ford scaled the Model T.

What will it be like to work on the Model e team?

We are passionate about solving hard problems. We create with passion delivering extraordinary solutions to change the world. We challenge…competitors, bureaucracy, obstacles and even our own assumptions. We have zero tolerance for bias or personal agendas. We are swift and decisive… trusting the experts, believing the data, seeking out and listening to bold intuition – regardless of the source. We are insurgents…never satisfied, averse to complexity, suspicious of habits and open to risk. We constantly learn. We focus on the mission and deliver with urgency and speed. We are an agile team… leveraging rapidly evolving technology to innovate, fail fast and pivot. We trust each other, surface issues openly and solve problems collaboratively. Most importantly we raise the talent bar with every hire.

As a Program Vehicle Integration Engineer, you will be leading the translation of customer insights of EV products into program content. This requires a balanced customer mindset to drive vehicle level requirements and provide ‘emotional delights’ and insanely great experiences. The responsibilities will include resolution of disconnects with key partners in the analytical design, vehicle prototyping, and production launch process with teams including vehicle attributes, design and release, marketing, manufacturing, and program management.

  What you will do:

Be part of the highly motivated and talented team that will define and deliver the next generation F-150 Electric Vehicle Pickup Truck.

Lead the cascade of vehicle level requirements into objective system level requirements that can be used for engineering and validation. Ensure that these cascaded targets are compatible across the various attributes and systems. Interface with the key functions, including the design studio, energy management, hardware systems, features, software, etc.

Lead the on-going confirmation that system level design tradeoffs and deviations still deliver the vehicle level customer experience and “wow” moments. Leverage all available analytical and prototyping tools to confirm the vehicle level experience, to deliver customer experience reviews. Lead highly cross-functional technical tradeoff discussions to resolve issues at the customer level.

Lead the validation of the final vehicle to deliver the target emotive experiences. Sustain this validation mindset from initial production through to final production including all updates and variants.

Note this position requires on-site attendance to maximize collaboration

  The minimum requirements we seek:

  • B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related)

  • Broad understanding of total automotive hardware and software systems, including electric vehicle drive systems

  • At least one of these (these experiences could be achieved simultaneously):

o 3 years of experience in developing electric vehicle attributes

o 3 years of experience in developing full-vehicle attributes at a customer level through concept, analytical engineering, and physical prototype testing

  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and collaboratively develop efficient solutions

  Our preferred requirements:

  • All of these (these experiences could be achieved simultaneously):

o 3 years of experience in developing full size pickup truck attributes (professionally or personally)

o 3 years of experience in developing electric vehicle attributes

o 3 years of experience in developing full-vehicle attributes at a customer level through concept, analytical engineering, and physical prototype testing

  • Successful delivery of at least one full automotive program (including target setting, concept development, studio design, prototype testing, issue resolution and final implementation in production).

  • Enjoy applying your obsession to detail to understand and solve technical problems.

  • Have shown you can find and implement new and novel solutions in a ‘go fast’ environment.

  • Relish collaborating across functions in a team environment, employing an open and honest communication style.

  What you'll receive in return:

As part of the Ford family, you’ll enjoy excellent compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous PTO, retirement, savings and stock investment plans, incentive compensation and much more.
