PAR is seeking a motivated engineer to develop new SDR technologies with our Software Internetworked Link Communications (SILC) team of multi-disciplined engineers.
SILC continues our successful path in disrupting the status-quo in radio technology with our accelerated prototyping of innovative software and hardware solutions. We combine the use of low-cost, software-defined radios (SDRs), as well as custom-designed waveform software, to implement military and commercial data link waveforms at a faster pace than conventional approaches.
We build and test wireless networks using SDRs to rapidly prototype and evaluate new robust waveforms. In addition, we design, build, and demonstrate SDR-based antenna tracking systems for ground-to-airborne directional data links using both mechanical and electronically-steered antennas.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Develop and prototype innovative new software-defined radio technologies
· Conduct lab evaluations and assessments of SDR prototypes.
· Analyze the performance of communication and networking technologies/systems, including software-defined radios
· Operate RF-test equipment to measure and validate waveform performance on SDRs.
· Assist in calculating RF-link budgets to predict performance of complex wireless networks
· Assist in test and validation of emerging mesh-networking waveforms on SDRs
· Perform indoor and outdoor interoperability demonstrations of SDRs and DoD radios
· Setup and operate SDR-based antenna tracking systems
Required Skills
· Experience with waveforms, waveform design, and characteristics
· Knowledge of RF communications systems engineering and/or integration
· Knowledge of RF antenna design, analog and digital signal conversion
· Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing principle and applications
· Knowledge of modulation/demodulation of RF signals utilizing various antenna and modulations schemes (FSK, PSK, QAM, etc.)
· Competent/familiar with embedded Linux and Python, experience with C++ preferred
· Experience performing testing and measurement of RF properties of various network components using spectrum, and network analyzers
Required Experience
