Job Summary:
The University of Colorado (CU) School of Medicine is seeking a talented full-time Social Media and Web Specialist. This position will create and manage content for the CU Department of Medicine's website and social media platforms, ensuring that content is compelling, accurate, relevant, current, and consistent with CU brand messaging.
The position requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to stay on task, and the ability to work with varying levels of staff and faculty to gather information, write, and distribute content appropriately. The position is a hybrid in-person and remote work model, requiring excellent project management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
This position is part of the CU School of Medicine communications team and will primarily support the Department of Medicine. Team members help elevate and connect the communications between the school and its departments, divisions, and centers through our shared services structure.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media:
Develop a social media strategy, including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, to promote the mission and vision of the Department of Medicine.
Produces and maintains the social media editorial content calendar.
Responds promptly to messages, comments, etc.
Monitors social media to manage mentions of the Department of Medicine and engages in relevant online discussions.
Generates photos, social media videos, and infographics for social media.
Develops, implements, and tracks the effectiveness of social media or digital campaigns.
Creates and manages social media boosting to drive optimum results.
Website:
Uses Sitefinity and HubSpot to manage and update the Department of Medicine website content.
Regularly updates existing content, generates new content, and cross-links with CU and other related sites.
Performs search engine optimization to help with website ranking.
Ensures web content meets accuracy, usability, and best practices standards.
Collaboration and Best Practices:
Builds and maintains relationships with faculty and staff within the CU School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine.
Collaborates with CU School of Medicine, Anschutz Medical Campus, UCHealth, Children's Hospital Colorado, Veterans Affairs, and others as appropriate.
Identifies and implements best practices concerning communication practices, strategies, and tools.
Work Location:
Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Entry Professional:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, communications, public or media relations, journalism, or other related fields.Intermediate Professional:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, communications, public or media relations, journalism, or other related fields.
One (1) year of experience working in professional or branded social media growth and management or related communications, public relations, and marketing field(s), preferably in health care or higher education.
Senior Professional:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, communications, public or media relations, journalism, or other related fields.
Two (2) or more years of experience working in professional or branded social media growth and management or related communications, public relations, and marketing field(s), preferably in health care or higher education.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with project management, prioritization, timelines, and ensuring on-time deliverables.
Additional training/professional development in the following areas: social media strategy and implementation, writing for the web, search engine optimization, content management systems, HTML, and video editing.
Experience working in a web content management system (Sitefinity, HubSpot).
Communications experience in a university, academic medical center, and/or large hospital system environment.
Experience with photography, videography, and video editing.
Knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Exceptional independent writing skills and experience developing clear, concise, and key message-focused communications.
Excellent knowledge of editing and grammar, including AP style.
Demonstrated ability to capture the voice of a brand/person consistently.
Highly organized and dependable; able to multitask, working quickly and effectively to manage numerous deadlines with minimal supervision.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills.
Dedicated to producing excellent work and excellent customer service.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established as
Entry: $46,116 to $58,660
Intermediate: $50,185 to $63,835
Senior: $54,254 to $69,012
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
