About Senior Process Controls Engineer

  Job Description

  On-Site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

  The Role

  The Sr. Process Controls Supervisor is responsible for Program Execution for Machine Controls. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment.

  What You Will Do (Responsibilities)

  New program implementation/execution (SOR prep, forecasting, controls/robotics design, equipment build/run-off and buyoff)

  Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high-quality parts.

  Participation in Quick Connects, performing CAP Reviews, developing other Team Members and budget responsibilities.

  Manage deliveries to program timing milestones.

  Provide project report outs to senior management.

  Existing program/site support (troubleshooting, etc.)

  Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all customers/plants.

  Provide technical direction to less experienced controls engineers.

  Design and troubleshooting of electrical controls systems.

  Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology.

  Travel as required.

  Your Skills And Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  5+ years of experience as a controls engineer

  Bachelor’s Degree with major in engineering or equivalent experience/training

  Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment.

  Demonstrated basic understanding of mechanical concepts involving machine designs, process requirements involved in the manufacturing process.

  Experience in PLC and HMI programming, Ethernet and/or Device Net networks.

  Knowledge of servo motors, motion control and drives.

  Problem solving, analytical, interpersonal and communications skills required.

  Ability to design and trouble shoot electrical controls systems.

  Demonstrated ability to manage multiple challenging projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results.

  Proven ability in project management skills.

  Multiple different manufacturing controls assignments with successful individual achievements.

  Ability to use computer, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems.

  What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  Demonstrated understanding of plant floor work

  General knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is a plus.

  Prior work experience as Controls Engineer in the automotive field.

  Knowledge of GM’s Global Controls Architecture

  This position is not eligible for ISP, ITAP or localizations
