We are seeking a Senior Patent Paralegal in our Salt Lake City, Denver, orMinneapolis office. In this role, you will perform senior paralegalfunctions, which involve complex problem solving and decision making skillswhile maintaining and managing U.S. and foreign patent prosecution dockets.As a paralegal, you are a critical part of Dorsey's client serviceteams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel, and clients on anarray of substantive client matters. Additional Responsibilities Include:
Assist attorneys in drafting correspondence to clients regarding U.S. andinternational patent prosecution events.Under the guidance of attorneys, communicate directly with clients regardingroutine or procedural patent prosecution events.Assist attorneys in management of U.S. and international patent portfolios,including reviewing and maintaining accuracy of patent files, understandingdocket and deadlines, and action needed on each file.Draft various patent prosecution documents related to new applications,formalities, examination, patent appeals and post-allowance actions forattorney review and file under attorney direction with the U.S. Patent andTrademark Office.Communicate attorney instructions to local counsel regarding internationalpatent matters and preparation and assembly of ancillary documentation.Create, monitor, and maintain U.S. information disclosure statementdatabase in the IP docket management system.Assist with patent due diligence projects.Navigate the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office online system for applicationstatus updates and downloading of documents.Conduct substantial country law requirements research, includingdocumentation and filing requirements, and present for attorney action.Apply expert knowledge of patent legal procedures, terminology, andactivities to paralegal tasks.Perform and delegate other tasks as necessary or as directed.
What we're looking for:
Bachelor's degree or completion of a paralegal program or equivalentexperience and familiarity with Intellectual Property.At least 7 years of related experience.Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated analyticalability; ability to set priorities; knowledge of ethical boundaries ofposition and when to consult with attorney; responsible; resourceful;professioAbility to manage client portfolio work distribution, track workflow, andreport on client portfolio milestones.Ability to proactively problem solve and exercise independent judgement anddecision making skills.Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a large volume ofdetailed tasks.Expert understanding and knowledge of the patent process, docketing, andfiling responsibilities.Strong knowledge of the U.S Patent and Trademark Office online databasesincluding the electronic filing system.Expert knowledge of, and exposure to, international trademark onlinedatabases and docketing databases. Foundation IP is preferred.Strong ability and knowledge of conducting searches in databases.Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.

For Denver applicants only, the pay range for this position is $44.00 to$57.00 per hour.
This range represents Dorsey's good faith estimate of likely compensation atthe time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon a number of factors,including the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills andlocation and may fall outside of the range indicated.
