Brief Position Overview
The full-time Sr. IT Support manager serves and leads information technology initiatives as a member of the UIT shared services model for the College of Agriculture and the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station ( COA / MAES ) by researching, planning, coordinating, and directing information technology support for the College. Reports to the Chief Information Officer ( CIO ) and collaborates with the IT Community, this individual helps establish IT goals for COA / MAES and coordinates the work associated with implementation and achievement of the goals through collaboration with COA / MAES administration, staff, faculty, and the MSU IT Community.

General Statement

Duties and Responsibilities
Function as a contributing member of the leadership team for the College by providing technical leadership, goals, initiative and a long-range plan for IT needs and innovation within the College.
Represents MSU UIT shared service model for College in technical matters within the IT Community including the Information Exchange sessions.
Develop and maintain the budgeting for equipment acquisitions, upgrades, and replacements and coordinates all CAA CFAC .
Participates in the development of IT policies and procedures in coordination with UIT (security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service procedures).
Reports to MSU CIO and collaborates closely with the UITCommunity, campus groups and outside vendors and partners.
Oversee College IT systems, functions, and personnel, including those in departments (functions include desktop support, servers, database services, programming, remote support, and connectivity).
Provide leadership and supervision to the three full-time College IT staff.
Is a member of the UIT shared services model that supports all areas of campus.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field, plus recent progressive experience in an IT field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education to effectively perform the required job functions.
Demonstrated supervisory experience which includes coaching, counseling, and evaluating job performance.
Demonstrated experience analyzing software environments and recommending changes to improve organization efficiency, system reliability, and reduce costs.
Demonstrated experience working in virtual environments.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing IT policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in working with Apple Products.
Demonstrated experience with software and network security-related policies and guidelines.
Demonstrated experience with current IT technologies and trends across a variety of hardware, software, desktop support, internet, internet applications, and network resources.
Demonstrated experience in applying cloud-based technologies.
