  Senior Engineer - Data Center Facility Operations

  Position Summary

  GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with technical experience and outstanding customer service skills to oversee associated vendors for critical infrastructure, including engineering and maintenance. You will support site engineering projects, budgets, risks, and changes, ensuring the smooth functioning of our data center infrastructure as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.

  Position Description

  Our Senior Engineer - Data Center Facility Operations is responsible for executing operational objectives, policies, and procedures. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high-quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly . The ideal candidate has working knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing operations, and data center operations related to cooling and electrical equipment.

  Position Responsibilities

  As a Senior Engineer, you will:Reinforce a team of 24/7/365 skilled facility engineers and professionalsSupport facility operations, including electrical, UPS, mechanical, and control systems such as HVAC systems, generators, and safety systemsTroubleshoot and resolve complex incident management issues, producing incident reports for further analysisCoordinate contractual activitiesOversee facilities projects, including budget, schedule, and scopeExecute strategies to prevent potential problemsParticipate in commissioning processes and testing of existing and new equipmentMaintain overall site capacity, including electrical, mechanical, and control systemsSuccessfully deliver projects on time, on budget, and within scopeCommunicate and collaborate effectively with external project teams and resourcesHandle and resolve escalations while partnering with relevant stakeholders to deliver projectsAssist in budget managementExecute policies and procedures for essential operating protocolsQualificationsStrong experience in a 24/7/365 critical facility environment, including troubleshootingKnowledge of EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) compliance requirements and experience with auditsUnderstanding of power distribution and control systems, redundancy, resiliency, andPhysical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform activities such as walking, kneeling, climbing, pulling, bending, lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.Capable of climbing ladders up to 30 feet and structures up to 45 feet, and maneuvering around trucks, scaffolds, and equipmentProficient in operating tools, equipment, vehicles, and machineryAble to work in limited light and differentiate colorsWillingness to work in emergency situations and inclement weather, with the availability for overtime as neededMust use and maintain personal protective equipment as requiredComfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments, including adverse weatherconditions and noiseAble to work in areas covered by brush and trees or in trenches with poor footing and uneven or wet groundWillingness to work with energized conductors and equipment rated from low to medium voltagesMust have and maintain an acceptable driving record according to company policy and a valid state driver's licenseFamiliarity with driving and operating vehicles such as automobiles, pickup trucks, vans, ATVs, aerial man-lifts, and forklifts (forklift and man-lift operation require prior certification)Ability to operate test equipment for meters and electrical fault locationProficient using computers and calculatorsAdaptability to future changes in equipment, vehicles, and tools as requiredProven ability to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity for learning technical concepts and adapting to new technologies quicklyProficient in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Power PointStrong verbal and written communication skills, including effectively communicating progress of programs/projectsExperience5+ years operations-related experience or equivalent work experience4+ years of hands-on work experience in a technical environmentEducationAssociate's degree in related Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experienceAt this time, GEICO will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
