Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to work in our Data Management team as a Sr. Data Engineer. The Senior Data Engineer is a self-motivated skilled professional, possessing analytical, critical thinking, strong communication, and interpersonal skills. They are responsible for improving the overall data landscape within GAF through the development and provisioning of data assets and subject areas in our cloud data platform. In addition, the Senior Data Engineer has the technical skills and experience needed to develop cost-effective, timely solutions that meet functional and performance requirements while focusing on understandability and ease of use.
Additional skills include the ability to define, influence, and communicate solution direction, to make decisions and work autonomously in order to ensure the successful implementation of data assets.
The successful candidate will be expected at times to perform as a team lead, accountable for the management and deliverables of the team for the duration of an initiative while working collaboratively with other team members across the Enterprise Data Management & Advanced Analytics Chapter. They are expected to understand the full breadth of GAF analytical solutions/toolsets from an end-user perspective as well as possess a working knowledge of the data. They will facilitate individual and group education sessions in order to strengthen the knowledge and understanding of these solutions across the business. This position will help develop greater insights across all the departments in the organization and the acquisition of data sets and the support of predictive models including visualizations that convey data stories efficiently and effectivel y.
Essential Duties:
Ingest, develop ETL data pipelines using Google Cloud Platform ingestion tools
Develop, implement and optimize data solutions using SQL, Shell Scripting, ETL Tools and other cloud data pipeline and transformation tools
Analyze, Research, Review and Interpret data consumption and usage requirements
Design data schemas for high performance and identify improvements to existing structures
Develop solutions for data migration, movement and exchange
Document data flow diagrams at various levels of detail from source to target systems
Develop procedures and programs and scripts to extract/integrate/share data from PeopleSoft, CRM and Web Applications
Troubleshoot performance and scalability issues and develop scripts and code to track, monitor & troubleshoot issues.
Fine tuning of SQL code used in SQL based objects, ETL processes, data virtualization tools, and other programs
Work individually and with team in developing procedures to upload, monitor and track data uploads in/out of data repositories
Work on Products/Programs by functional areas to provide development & support
Willingness to learn new tools & technology and perform other duties as required
Technical Skills
Knowledge of Google Cloud and Google Cloud Ingestion tools - Cloud Data Fusion, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, GCS, etc.
Hands on programming skills using SQL, Python, T-SQL, PL-SQL, Unix/C/C#, Scripting tools
Coding, Debugging, Root Cause analysis
Data Analysis, Support & Issue Resolution
Basic skills in software design & development using RDBMS
Interpreting data models, relationships, data lineage & database connectivity details
Working knowledge of Cloud and networking technologies
Technologies – Oracle/SQL Server, TSQL/PLSQL, ETL tools/scripts, Unix/Linux/Windows, Scripting (VBScript, PowerShell, etc), RDMS

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field is preferred
10+ years experience in the Data and Analytics field
8+ years architecting business intelligence, ETL, application, and database
Minimum 8-10 years of hands-on design & development experience
Experience working in an IT development & support environment
Experience in issue management, root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
Data Analysis and Software Development (SDLC) experience a must
7+ years of experience with key business applications such as SAP S4/Hana, SAP Analytics Cloud, and the GCP data toolset.
