The QA Leader will lead a team performing construction inspection and materials testing on a large cable-stayed bridge, associated roadways and underground utility work. The Quality Assurance Leader will report directly to the project Quality Manager. The QA Lead will be responsible for coordinating their own and their teams inspection and testing activities in conjunction with the contractor’s schedule such that hold point are quickly and efficiently processed. The QA lead will review and approve the teams Daily Reports and Testing Reports. The QA lead will not be a solely delegatory position and will be responsible for daily inspections with occasional on-site materials testing. The QA lead will also be responsible for coordination of project paperwork, such as Material Check-In reports, Field Design Change Forms and RFI’s. The QA Lead will also be responsible for the acceptance of the QC testing and inspection activities and reports.
Additional Roles and Responsibilities:
Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures to determine if work is done according to contract specifications.
Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
Prepare inspection reports and document nonconformance.
Performs analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Quality Manager.
Communicates information to the Quality Manager and other personnel as directed by the Quality Manager.
Will interact with the client and other site personnel to provide input on appropriate resolution of findings.
Will assist the Quality Manager in development of scope for testing and inspection services
Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with the Quality Manager and QC Leader.
Maintains equipment operation and calibration.
Lead, provide direction, and coordinate activities of lower level inspectors.
Performs advanced fieldwork and assists with project management.
Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction inspection on highway bridge projects
Highway Bridge Construction experience in a quality role such as QC, QA, or CEI.
Familiarity with Alternate Delivery Quality Construction Practices
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Certified to perform inspection and testing on MoDOT projects or have the ability to become certified within 3 months of hire.
Work on-site for the duration of the project.
Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.
The ability to obtain a Professional Engineering License in the state of Missouri
Required Certification:
Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
ACI certification in one or more of the following areas:
Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
Concrete Strength Testing Technician
Preferred Certification:
American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification (Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT)).
Other national, regional, state, and local Materials related certifications requiring experience and written examination will also be considered if deemed appropriate by the Terracon Department Manager.
Bonus : Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.* _These certification can be obtained after hire.*_
