Senior Audio-Visual Technician - Georgetown University Medical Center
Job Overview
The Senior Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for ensuring high quality technical services for the Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) educational mission through operational tasks, such as classroom setup/breakdown and equipment maintenance/inventory; and coordinates the more complex audio-visual requirements of GUMC’s classroom technology.
They also liaise with University Information Services (UIS) on network infrastructure and capital projects; and manage the day-to-day functions of GUMC’s Technical and Educational Support Services (TESS).
They work closely with the UIS Technology Support Team Manager for the Medical Center campus to strategically assess all GUMC classrooms, conference rooms, and teaching spaces to ensure that all rooms have necessary and functional technologies available - and that faculty have the necessary A/V technology and responsive technical support for classroom teaching.
Work Interactions
Reporting to GUMC Vice President for Operations, Administration & Strategic Initiatives, the Senior Audio-Visual Technician directly interacts and manages the staff and processes that provide A/V and classroom technology service and support to GUMC students and employees, as well as University staff, vendors, and consultants (customers).
Customers rely greatly on TESS’s support as they are a central point of contact for a wide variety of technical and non-technical classroom A/V and technology issues. Its well-managed staff and efficient operating team members directly impact productivity by ensuring that customers have access to the equipment and resources needed to complete their teaching and administrative duties.

Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
10 years of experience with A/V equipment and services
Strong communication skills, to include effective and strategic communication across varied stakeholders and customers
Ability to effectively triage A/V and technical issues, while also ensuring consistent set up of daily A/V needs
Customer service-orientation
Preferred qualifications
Strong project management skills
Experience maintaining and growing A/V and technology support services within a higher education setting
