Description
A thriving company in the Retail - is on the search for a permanent Senior Accountant to join their team in the NEW YORK, New York area. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. This position offers a great long-term growth potential, including a strong compensation and benefits package for the candidate. We are seeking an individual with strong analytical skills that excels working in a challenging and fast-paced work environment while contributing to the continued success of the firm. Located in New York, New York, this Senior Accountant role is hybrid with the expectation of 2-3 days/week in office.
What you get to do every day
Work with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls and provide support on special requests
Assist in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors
Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP
Assemble monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting
Prepare financial analysis on trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc.
Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions
Apply oneself to various department-wide initiatives
Supply Balance Sheet account reconciliations
Coordinate Ad-hoc projects as necessary
Requirements - Proficient in ERP systems
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Fixed assets experience highly desired
Month end closings experience
Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Excel
Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) experience required
Adeptness in SOX
Strong familiarity with journal entries
Skill with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
2+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong communication and social skills
