SECURITY OFFICER
Full Time - 35 hrs/wk
This position will protect people and property from possible criminal activity and will be responsible to promote and maintain a safe environment for staff and patrons, assessing situations as they arise and reduce the Librarys liability with best processes, procedures, communication, and documentation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts regular walk-throughs and security inspections by patrolling and monitoring assigned areas.
Monitors surveillance cameras, inspects property, and monitors patrons.
Contacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency.
Familiarity with Code Adam scenarios.
Checks doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure.
Respond to on-site alarms in the absence of the Facilities Director.
Ensures building capacity limits are not exceeded.
Acts as Safety Officer in conjunction with HR for various COVID procedures.
Investigate reports of suspicious activity on the property.
Escorts discharged staff, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises.
Takes proactive steps to provide a safe and secure working environment for staff, patrons, and visitors.
Provides security for and monitors access to limited and restricted access.
Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures to promote and ensure a safe working environment.
Submits recommendations for improvements, updates, and/or additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
