Job Summary
Under minimal supervision the ACS Charge RN supervises the daily work ofclinical personnel and expanded care team personnel in the ambulatory careenvironment., The registered nurse (RN) provides patient care andeducation in an outpatient setting to diverse patients, families, andcommunity members throughout the lifespan, and the Charge Nurse serves anexpert and resource in these skills to the rest of the ambulatory care clinict
The Charge Nurse, adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA)standards of professional nursing and performance, and the ANA Code ofEthics (2015) to provide care to all patients. Applies criticalthinking, evidence-based policies, procedures, guidelines and competenceto collaborate with the health care team to promote excellence in patientsafety and quality outcomes. The charge nurse will be part of the Denver Sexual Health Clinic which is oneof four clinics within the Public Health Institute at Denver Health. OurDenver Sexual Health Clinic team is strongly committed and passionate aboutproviding sexual health and family planning services to an underservedcommunity including LGBTQIA+ persons.
Essential Functions:
Operations ManagementSupervises daily operations in the clinic by employing clinical and managerialskills to care for patients while also providing guidance and leadership toother nurses, medical assistants, health educators, and other care teamstaff who are working with patients including but not limited topreparing daily staffing assignments, mentoring staff, evaluatingperformance, facilitating patient flow, and problem solving daily staffingand patient care issues. (50%)Patient AssessmentAssess the needs of individuals, families and/or communities to identifypotential health or safety problems, Instruct individuals and families onhealth education and disease prevention and after care. (20%)Treatment and EvaluationConsult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan,implement and evaluate patient care. Monitor all aspects of patient care,including diet and physical activity, develop and modify patient care plansas indicated by patient's responses and conditions. Prepare patients for,and assist with examinations and treatments (20%)Medication administration, documentation and reassessment (10%)
Education:
Associate's Degree in Nursing Required
Work Experience:
1-3 years Professional nursing experience in a patient care setting. Required
Licenses:
RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required andBLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Adherence to Standards of Professional Nursing Practice/ Process /Performance [ANA Standards addendum- signed] and accrediting body standards.Strong understanding and display of the principals of customer service as itapplies to patients, staff and the community.Ability to assist in identifying ways to promote quality patient-centric careand maintain Denver Health's high level of patient satisfaction.
