We are a team dedicated to fostering an environment that allows for all to be their authentic selves. We are focused on attracting, cultivating, and retaining diverse talent who can help us deliver on our mission to be a world leader in the advancement of healthcare for children.

We strongly encourage all candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences to apply.

A Brief OverviewDr. Sengupta is a neonatologist and physician scientist with a long-standing interest in lung health. She studies the mechanisms of circadian regulation of lung inflammation, injury, and repair; and the effect of early life exposures on development and function of pulmonary circadian networks in adulthood.

We are looking for a research technician for exciting work aimed at uncovering circadian underpinnings of lung injury. I am a physician scientist and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and we have many novel and interesting projects at various stages of development.

Potential candidates will be expected to carry out basic molecular and cellular biology procedures including RNA isolation, qPCR, protein isolation and Western Blot, independently after initial orientation and training inthe lab. Other responsibilities will include (but not limited to) maintaining multiple mouse lines, including breeding and genotyping, as well as overseeing animal experiments (weighing mice, transferring mice to ABSL2 facility, conducting running wheel experiments etc.). There will also be opportunities to learnflowcytometry and viral titration etc. Some experience with rodents and other above-mentioned techniques will be viewed as an advantage but is not absolutely essential. We are happy to train up in all these areas as well!

Since the focus of our research is circadian biology-some experiments will require work at times outside of the usual hours of operation (9am-5pm) or over the weekends. Whenever such hours are needed, adjustments to the weekday hours will be made. Overall working hours and schedule are flexible based on the experimental needs. We are proud of our amazing teamwork and collaborations that makes science so much more fun! Based on general proficiency and interest, one may expect to take ownership of their own scientificproject. And as such, dedicated researchers will have ample opportunities for presenting their work at conference and eventually authorship in manuscripts. Further through the UPenn/CHOP campus one will have unparalleled access to lectures, seminar and workshops on a wide array of scientific topics.

The translational nature of the project would be a great opportunity for those seeking to build a career in biomedical research or medicine. This would an excellent opportunity for those taking time off prior to committing to a career in biomedical medicine/research to build up their cvs and gain hands-on experience in translational research on an exciting new field.
