Incumbents may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.)The contractor carries out regular work in accordance with Federal, State and local food and health regulations to provide training, technical assistance and oversight of Ohio summer food service operations participating in the Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option programming.The position will have year-round responsibilities with most of the duties performed during summer meal programming which runs May through September.This position is an intermittent contracted position up to 1,075 hours January 1, 2024-Dec 31, 2024. Contractor is responsible for their own travel expenses and technology hardware.Travels to and inspects all Summer Food Service Program food service management companies, vendors and central kitchen food production facilities providing technical assistance, issue program findings, and monitor and approve corrective action plans as applicable. Travels to and conducts unannounced food safety inspections at Summer Food Service Program meal sites throughout the state during program operations providing technical assistance, issue program findings, and close meal sites not meeting safety requirements.Plans and develops tools and training materials to ensure child nutrition program sponsors meet food safety standards. Conducts dynamic program trainings monthly for child nutrition sponsors both in-person and virtually and serves as a food safety subject matter expert for the Office of Nutrition to schools, childcare centers and summer meal program sponsors. Effectively presents information and responds to food safety questions from Office of Nutrition staff and Child Nutrition program sponsors.Leads class and proctors exam for SERV Safe Ohio Person in Charge course.Major worker characteristics :Must be competent and proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to interpret State and Federal regulations and applicability to facility to ensure compliance.Strong planning, organizational and follow-up skills.Excellent people and process management skills. Strong attention to detail and time-management skills.Ability to maintain accurate records; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; answer routine telephone inquiries; complete routine forms; work independently.Minimum class qualifications for employment :Degree in public or environmental health, biology, nutrition, or hospitality. Candidate must be a Registered Sanitarian in the state of Ohio, a nationally Registered Environmental HealthSpecialist or possess an Ohio Department of Health Manager Certification in Food Protection.
