As the Global SPM Program Manager, you will lead the Resources Industries (RI) Site Performance Management (SPM) support team within the Mining Center of Excellence. As the leader of the team, you will set the direction, in close collaboration with RI senior leadership and the RI regional teams, for short term and long terms goals/execution plans for Site Performance Management at sites around the world - all in support of RI's critical equipment win-rate and services growth targets. Your team of deep subject matter experts will develop and deliver tools, processes, standard work, site assessment services, coaching, and training to Cat and Dealer Site Performance Managers as they closely collaborate with the customer to attack downtime drivers and drive continuous improvement to achieve site goals for Equipment Uptime and Productivity at the lowest Total Cost.
What you and your team will do:
Create an environment for SPMs to succeed at the site through data-driven global site selection and fleet selection processes, established SPM Roles and Responsibilities (with SMART Goals and performance expectations), regular SPM communication events - meetings and forums for best training, practice sharing, and issues collaboration, and SPM tools for quantifying and communicating successes internally and with the site.
Provide tools, processes, and standard work to SPMs focused on the identification and quantification of downtime drivers, identification and validation of root causes, identification of solutions, and implementation of joint action plans.
Support SPMs at the site with site assessment needs, project idea generation, issues identification, best practices, project leadership/participation, one-on-one coaching, group Mining Equipment Management training, and whatever else may be needed.
Champion the continuing evolution of Dealer Site Performance Management in close collaboration with DSDs and Regions worldwide on Dealer Excellence for Mining (DEM) and future initiatives to increase reach, drive consistency, and enhance standards and support.
Manage all aspects of governance related to Site Performance Management including, metrics development, target setting, data collection tools/accuracy/timeliness (DPP), metrics reporting, root cause analysis, and issues resolution (x-matrix metrics ownership and reporting).
In this role you will be expected to:
Report on the key initiatives, successes (value of Uptime, CI Value created) and challenges in the SPM program regularly to RI Senior Leadership
Maintain, Own, and Report on the Business Case for SPMs (OIA), including future initiatives/investments, expected returns, future trends, support structure evolution, and other potential changes.
Influence Caterpillar Senior Leaders within Caterpillar to adapt or change direction, provide funding/financial support, hire personnel, and support needed organizational structure changes.
Interact and influence Mining Dealer Leaders, as needed, to evaluate and adopt SPM tools, process, and practices.
Hold Cat and Dealer SPMs and their associated leadership fully accountable for reasonable adherence to defined processes and standard work related to Site Performance Management execution.
As the Leader of the MCOE SPM Team, you will:
Demonstrate skills in the following leadership principles: business, career development, coaching, communication, customer focus, empowerment, and fostering an enjoyable work climate.
Maintain a team of subject matter experts prepared to support the SPM community around the world.
Manage a work unit of primarily management/professional team members where monitoring and reviewing work is required as well as training, developing, and mentoring.
Be responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of team members.
Be free to determine the best way to complete job assignments to achieve desired results within the agreed budget
Manage the budget for the team and the SPM OIA execution.
Degree and Experience Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
7 plus years of related experience including field, staff, support, and supervisory assignments.
Knowledge of mining industry, mining products, mine site operations, dealer support, and commercial operations.
Strong leadership and communications skills, both oral and written.
Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, and persuade others to take specific actions.
Additional information:
The location for this position is Peoria, IL, or Tucson, AZ.
Relocation assistance is available for this position.
This position will require approximately 25% travel (domestic and global). Varying as needed.
