Position Overview
Manage product engineering department to support production plant and research and develop new products and systems for customer needs; Analyze, Design, Evaluate, Modify and test Enterprise wide-systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Baan, PeopleSoft) across functional areas to interact with proprietary programming to provide optimum material and process flow; Lead crossfunctional group meetings (Quality, Manufacturing, Production, supply chain, finance) to ensure designs follow specifications and standards; Provide technical support to Plant management for manufacturing and warranty concerns; Modify existing products or processes to improve vehicle performance using computer-aided design (CAD) and truck standards (i.e. AWS, FMVSS, SAE) to develop the work request into the functional groups; Employ problem solving tools and statistical analysis to identify concerns and create the interim and permanent corrective actions to ensure correct Bill of materials and Designs; Perform Engineering training and manage sheet metal assembly tools & fixtures, paint schematics, defects and upgrades including Cab-in-white & closures projects; Coordinate system upgrade activities. Train user personnel in the conversion and implementation of the ERP system; Collaborate with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability.
Minimum Requirements
Navistar, Inc. is seeking a Product Engineering – ERP Manager Sr in San Antonio, TX with the following requirements: Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and at least 6 years of experience in product design/development, including at least 2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and at least 8 years of experience in product design/development, including at least 2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities OR PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology and at least 4 years of experience in product design/development, including at least 2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities. Required Skills: Develop ERP analysis of system specifications using current analysis/diagramming tools to represent business/technical processes, coordinating and implementing system upgrade activities of enterprise-wide systems (ERP systems such as Baan & Peoplesoft) and leading engineers in the training of these practices (4 yrs); Manage and develop an engineering team responsible for application of R&D projects such as designing, processing, and launching new products for customer needs. This includes interim corrective actions (substitutions/deviations) and permanent corrective actions (Computer-aided design updates, BOM updates, Design objections and improvements) as they pertain to launching new products into the assembly plant (4 yrs); Manage and design sheet metal assembly tools & fixtures, Paint objections (orange peeling, sagging, flaking) and upgrades (paint 1K vs 2K), including Cab-in-white (structural analysis) & closures projects (Door mechanism and window regulators), paint schematics (create and apply 3D designs onto the cab, hood and roof) (4 yrs); Develop Engineering processes, systems and specifications for full truck assembly, such as cab sheet metal and closure, Interior trim, Paint performance with respect to industry best practices (i.e. FMVSS 205, 208, SAE J810, J2334, AWS A3.0, D8.1, D8.7) and using Engineering/Manufacturing system tools to perform the actions (Computer-aided design Models, Vismock up (Teamcenter), ERP system) (4 yrs).
