  Job Summary:

  We are currently hiring a Software- focused Principal Systems Engineer to join the Effectors Systems Design & Architecture (SDA) organization located in Tucson, AZ.

  SDA is an exciting and challenging environment where you will have the opportunity to design, develop and partner with multi-disciplines to shape innovative solutions for our customers .   This position is a technical role with leadership elements contributing closely to the successful software upgrades of Effectors programs for both fielded and development systems. The SE will assist in leading Systems Engineering team tasking while closely contributing to that technical tasking for the program. These responsibilities include managing all system and subsystem requirements, providing SE technical oversight during integration and test activities, developing verification and validation efforts for the system, and providing SE expertise in troubleshooting and failure investigations. The SE role requires a high level of technical proficiency in the area of software integration, multi-disciplined coordination, and establishing and maintaining relationships with the customer technical community .

  Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  Update and maintain all system and subsystem level requirements specifications

  SE technical lead for verification and validation efforts, ensuring all requirements are being assessed during Formal Qualification Testing

  SE technical lead, working closely with the Systems and Software IPTLs and Chief Engineer on a variety of program technical tasks

  Lead technical conversations with the customer

  Become the knowledgeable and ‘go-to’ Systems Engineer for the program

  Help to onboard new team members, mentor, and guide them using core Systems Engineering skills

  Basic Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

  Eight (8) years of experience in one or more of the following technical domains:

  Systems engineering, architecture, and/or design

  System performance and analysis

  Algorithms and signal processing

  Modeling and simulation (for example 6-DOF)

  Mission planning and analysis

  RF Sensor sub-systems

  Communication systems or subsystems

  Software architecture, design, development, integration, and verification

  Configurable Logic / Firmware / VHDL architecture, design, development, integration, and verification

  Four (4) years of systems engineering experience with exposure in at least four of the following:

  Interfacing with customers

  Developing CONOPS

  Developing & Refining System Architecture

  Developing & Refining System Requirements

  Performing Functional & Physical Analyses

  Performing Functional Allocation

  Creating & Maintaining Specifications

  Developing Requirements Verification Strategies and Plans

  Developing Integrated Systems Security Solutions

  Subassembly Integration & Verification

  System Integration & Verification

  Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Experience with Cost Account Management or Earned Value Management

  MS or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics

  Experience using Agile framework development methods/processes

  Experience using Azure DevOps methods/tools

  Experience with Matlab, C, C#, C++, Python

  Past work experience in a challenging fast paced environment

  Ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance

  Familiarity with military systems; tactics, techniques, and procedures

  Familiarity with DoD customer infrastructure

  Understanding of Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle

  Familiarity with system safety, reliability, or mission planning

  Experience evaluating and mitigating technical risks

  Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations

  Strong communication skills

  Employee Referral Award Eligibility:

  The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

  This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
