We are building a future where we capture, analyze, and explain every inventory defect across all stages of the supply chain (i.e. inbound, distribution, storage, fulfillment, returns).The DP&R Defect Identification Technology (DIT) team is looking for a Principal Product Manager - Tech to own planning, execution, and delivery of the defect identification Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). You will deeply understand the end-to-end supply chain, which will be the foundation to anticipating future needs and extrapolating them into long-term business and technical strategies. You will partner with your customers and build consensus on the business and technology strategy for defect identification PaaS. You will be responsible for building a self-service platform that provides all internal and external clients the ability to onboard new defect signals, adjust defect classification logic, audit defect logic, and provide relational datasets for analysis and reporting. You will create scalable, best in class APIs to vend defect information. You will not only influence technical stakeholders including Technical Program Managers (TPMs), Software Development Managers (SDMs), and Applied Scientists, but also outline and influence the technical design at all product life cycle stages (discovery, adoption, optimization, and service evolution).Key job responsibilities- You have broad understanding of systems/technologies and apply this technical knowledge to invent, evolve, improve, and simplify.- You define the strategic vision and the long-term roadmap to achieve it, ensuring you are working backwards from customers and utilizing data analysis to guide you.- You lead internal technical conversations by outlining the technical design, being the owner of trade-offs between technical cost and business value, and optimizing QA/testing.- You understand and can represent the reasons behind the architecture decisions of product/feature and consistently bring strong, data-driven business and technical judgement to decisions.- You can identify gaps/opportunities in/between regions, architectures, and organizations and are able to make the case for technology investments.- You partner effectively with other leaders involved in the design, development, marketing, and use of DIT systems.- You influence upstream technology team's roadmap priorities and reach consensus on approach/prioritization.- You create success measurements linked to financials and user experience, set goal targets for these measurements, and are responsible for defect identification communication and reporting.About the teamWhen suppliers (selling partners and vendors) send their products to Amazon, defects can occur at any point in the supply chain (e.g. receive or ship). The focus of the Defect Identification Technology (DIT) team is to lower cost and increase speed across Amazon's supply chain by building technology that accurately identifies and attributes fulfillment-related defects. Supply chain defects can be both supplier-caused or Amazon-caused, and identifying the correct root-cause ownership of these defects is essential. Inaccurate defect signals hinder our capabilities to coach suppliers effectively and negatively impact
