　　Summary:

　　The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant functions in collaborative practice with physician(s) in the hospital setting. The NP/PA is responsible for the assessment, participation in the development of the plan of care, diagnosis and intervention of the assigned hospitalized patient(s) according to approved protocols. The NP/PA prescribes a variety of modalities to meet patient needs, up to and including continued hospital admission or discharge and prescriptive authority. Collaborates with the assigned team members to support and adjust plan of care and length of stay for patient care needs.

　　Education:

　　Graduate of an approved accredited school of nursing; Masters of Science in Nursing required. Minimum two years pediatric nursing experience, (or 2 years experience as FNP) in primary or acute care setting preferred.

　　• R Graduate of an approved accredited Physician Assistant program; Masters of Science as a Physician Assistant preferred. Minimum two years pediatric experience in surgical specialty clinic or surgical acute care setting/surgery setting required.

　　Certification/Licensure:

　　Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas. Recognition from the State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Certification as a Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner. Acute care certification required within 1 year of employment. Current certification in Basic Life Support. Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
