The Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering maintains an activeresearch program in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Center (ACRC)and invites applications for a research faculty position at all ranks inACRC. As a member of the Center, this individual will conduct researchwithin the department and advise graduate students toward the completionof their MS and PhD degrees; as well as work closely with the ACRC tocoordinate company recruiting, research projects, proposals and staffand student leadership.
ACRC Administration duties will require the successful applicant tofacilitate and ensure project progress and milestones meetdeliverables and established deadlines; serve as advisor to studentswith research activities and technical challenges.Provide guidance with students writing technical peer-reviewedjournal publications.Conduct experiments in the laboratory with students per projectrequirements.Serve as manager of ACRC expenditures utilizing universityapplications and programs and oversee all required record retention.Seek external funding by writing proposals to both public agenciesand private industry.Secure funding to support the operation of the research lab andstudents.Maintain ACRC membership; meeting with potential new members andensuring current members are satisfied with center direction andgrowth.Collaborate with ACRC Director on center leadership activities andorganization during ACRC meetings.The successful applicant will hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, withdoctoral degree research focused on building heating ventilation,air-conditioning and refrigeration research.
Preferred qualifications will include one year of experience as apostdoctoral research associate/scholar or equivalent and a strongbackground in system level research activities and experimentation.
All applicants should possess strong interpersonal and communicationskills, strong leadership abilities, a background in HVAC&R technologiesand system level research for the building and transportation sector.The ability to organize, manage, and complete multiple tasks withmultiple deadlines; excellent technical, database, computer andanalytical skills and a growth mindset.
This is a 100% non-tenure-track, renewable appointment on an academicyear (nine-month) paid over twelve months. Salary is commensurate withqualifications and experience.
