Position in the organization: Montessori Preschool Teacher Job Duties: Teaching preschool students (aged 3-6 years), utilizing Montessori concepts of size, colors, numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, language and practical skills; developing and creating materials to support social and practical lessons such as help and guide children's social interaction skills, social behavior and practical life lessons in keeping with the Montessori curriculum; providing a variety of Montessori materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in social learning activities among peer students and in imaginative and creative play; assuming responsibility for the safety and well-being of the children, being vigilant about maintaining the required student/teacher ratio and report any accidents or incidents to school management; maintaining accurate and complete student records and preparing reports on children and activities as required by Minnesota state laws, district policies, and administrative regulations. Must be able to assess the needs and learning patterns of each child and adjust Montessori presentations accordingly; maintain records of each child's progress; develop schedules and routines to ensure that children have sufficient physical activity, rest, and playtime; oversee the safety and well-being of the children, being vigilant about maintaining the required student/teacher ratio; maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on children and activities as required by laws, rules, administrative policies; and confer with staff and parents when necessary. The position requires an AMI or other Montessori diploma or certificate with successful completion of all course work. The candidates must have a good knowledge of the core areas of Montessori curriculum. Prior Montessori teaching experience will be considered in determining compensation.
