Responsibilities:
Implement Responsive Classroom/Developmental Designs management strategies to promote classroom community and to value each student as vital part of the classEmploy a blend of both direct instruction and collaborative, constructivist approaches to meet the needs of all learnersAdhere to the GUGCS Pacing Calendar and Scope and SequenceEmploy approaches that address multiples type of learners (visual, sensory, kinesthetic, audio)Emphasize that all students are capable and should be treated with high expectations, both behaviorally and academicallyValue and promote peaceful conflict resolution and creative and authentic problem solvingUphold school-wide policy of logical consequencesCreate and maintain strong parent relationships in our school communityCreate units of study using Understanding by Design (UBD) practicesLead a daily advisory groupAttend weekly department and grade team meetings Attend weekly staff meetingsAttend professional development workshops
Minimum Qualifications:
Strong commitment to Growing Up Green Charter School's mission and green themeDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachersKnowledge of Responsive Classroom and/or Developmental DesignsExperience in environmental education a plusAbility in integrating technology into teachingExcellent organizational skillsStarting salary is $61,070 (salary scale commensurate with teaching experience)
Education:
Master's Degree desired, Bachelor's requiredAt least two years of classroom teaching experience in the middle school grades
Required Certificates & Licenses: NYC DOE/Fingerprinting & Background Clearance, NY Teaching Certification
