VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital is looking to expand our Internal Medicine service and hiring a Veterinary Technician to join their team!

We are seeking technicians who like to solve puzzles, have a desire to further their knowledge in the field and are committed to acting as team players. Internal Medicine specialists are often considered the puzzle solvers of Veterinary Medicine. VCA Arboretum View Internal Medicine service is equipped to deal with whatever problem a patient brings—no matter how common or rare, how simple, or complex. Our Internal Medicine service diagnoses and treats the many serious diseases that can affect our patients' internal body systems.

VCA Arboretum View's IM Technicians better understand body systems and the disease process, learn advanced diagnostic testing, provide excellent patient care, and treat patients with cutting-edge techniques. With the mentorship of our Internist and Specialists, our Internal Medicine Technicians have advanced training and a better understanding of Endocrinology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Immunology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology/Urology, Neurology, Respiratory Diseases and Oncology.

Duties will include:

Collecting patient histories and performing physical exams.

IVC placement

Obtain laboratory samples via venipuncture, cystocentesis, and fecal collection

Gather and prepare tissue samples for culture and histopathologic diagnostic

Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging

Assisting in diagnostic procedures such as endoscopy, rhinoscopy, and fluoroscopy

Working collaboratively with team members of all hospital services.

Calculate drug dosages

Anesthesia monitoring for diagnostic procedures and interventional radiology procedures

Assisting with postoperative care of the patient (recovery)

Maintain patient records

Client education and communication

Maintain a clean work environment to maintain any infectious disease protocols, handle medical/biomedical and infectious waste appropriately

Schedule: Full-time (four 10-hour weekdays).

Compensation: $ 23- 38/ hr

Starting range is determined by license, skill set, and years of experience in the field. Financial growth opportunities available.

Requirements:

Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or eligible for certification upon hire.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a veterinary setting.

Strong communication, teamwork, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
