We are seeking a skilled and experienced Information Systems Security Officer to join our team to develop and implement security measures to protect computer systems, networks, and digital information in large-scale government programs. As an Information Systems Security Officer, you will work closely with our Cyber Security Lead Engineer, IT team, and other stakeholders to identify potential security vulnerabilities, analyze security risks, and ensure compliance with industry and government regulations. This position requires travel in the D.C. Maryland, Virginia area.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field or applicable work experience.
Relevant certification(s) (e.g., Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)).
Secret security clearance.
Two years of experience as an Information Systems Security Officer, preferably in the government sector.
Experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing security controls.
Proficiency in using security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability management tools.
Familiarity with Governance Risk and Compliance tools such as eMASS, Xacta, ServiceNow, RSA Archer, etc.
Proven experience with security assessment and penetration testing.
Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, DoD RMF, and Incident Response Procedures, such as Risk Assessment Reporting, POA&M generation, etc).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify security gaps and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a comprehensive information security program to safeguard the program's data, systems, and networks.
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential security vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate countermeasures.
Monitor and analyze security logs and reports to identify and respond to potential security incidents.
Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to ensure the protection of sensitive information and assets.
Design and manage security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, and encryption tools.
Conduct security audits and assist with the preparation for external security assessments.
Coordinate incident response activities, investigate security breaches, and provide recommendations for incident mitigation.
Stay up-to-date with the latest information security trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure continuous improvement of the organization's security posture.
Educate and train employees on best practices for information security, data privacy, and incident response.
