PRINCIPAL DUTIES: The Heavy Duty Mechanic performs the following:
Conduct vehicle/equipment inspections and diagnostic tests; identify and resolve worn, broken, or damaged parts.
Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjust controls and systems.
Coordinate with shop clerk on ordering materials and scheduling inspections as necessary throughout the process
Identify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical system problems and consider possible solutions.
Maintain vehicles/equipment using preventive maintenance procedures that meets or exceeds industry standards.
Correct vehicle/equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems. Such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, brake, steering, and hydraulics
Maintain vehicle/equipment records
Maintain shop equipment per operating instructions; troubleshooting and repairing or coordinate repairs; maintaining supplies.
Working on various heavy-duty equipment
Preferred Education/qualifications:
3+ years related experience in a maintenance related job.
Knowledge of heavy-duty mechanics.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular daily routine and be able to stay on your feet for a long period of time.
Ability to learn quickly and manage multiple priorities.
Work well independently as well as within a team.
