Duties include but are not limited to: · Plans, conducts, implements and monitors general recreational, personal development, structured therapeutic and entertainment activities for youth · Serves as a member of interdisciplinary team and analyzes, assesses, evaluates, defines and recommends group and or individual treatment goals and activities. · Observes participants during activities. · Serves in instructional capacity for youth · Prepares and maintains reports for treatment team regarding individual behavior and progress regarding individual recreational program activities. · Prepares and maintains inventory records of equipment tools and materials · Prepares weekly activity schedule What’s in it for you… At the State of Ohio, we take care of the team that cares for Ohioans. Qualifications Completion of undergraduate core program in recreation area (e.g., physical education); 12 mos. exp. in activity therapy or recreation. -Or completion of associate degree in recreational area; 24 mos. exp. in activity therapy or recreation. -Or 12 mos. exp. as General Activities Therapist 1, 44211. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; cooperate with co-workers on group projects; establish good rapport with clients/consumers/residents; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports; establish friendly atmosphere as team leader of work unit. ()Developed after employment. All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services must partake in paid, mandatory 4 weeks of training. Week 1 is held at IRJCF, weeks 2 through 4 are held in Orient, Ohio, 10-hour training days, Monday through Thursday. The state of Ohio covers transportation, meals and lodging. Background Check Information: The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check as well as other investigative reviews.
