Primary Role This external affairs internship experience will introduce you to the exciting career opportunities in the water and wastewater field at Pennsylvania American Water. The successful candidate will: Learn firsthand how water utilities support communities and provide resiliency and sustainability, work with a team of professionals to assist with external affairs and community relations activities, and support the government affairs, business development and policy objectives of the department. Key Accountabilities * Provide support to external affairs, government affairs and business development staff. * Assist in organizing, preparing and executing community relations events, outreach to key external stakeholders, and special events and projects. * Assist with data entry, collection and analysis in support of growth opportunities, policy objectives and corporate communications. * Researches and prepares information and reports in preparation for internal and external meetings, events and presentations. Knowledge/Skills * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Good analytical and problem-solving skills. * Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills. * Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple projects and deadlines. * Ability to seek input/feedback and coordinate with staff. * Detail-oriented to conduct thorough analyses and evaluations, resulting in timely decisions and recommendations. * Good working knowledge of computer programs, databases and software to support specific assignments. Experience/Education * Enrollment in a Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Administration and/or Political Science undergrad degree program or relevant program from an accredited school. * Minimum of 2 years of completed coursework. Other Requirements * Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass motor vehicle background check. * Must be able to pass pre-employment background check. Notes * Some travel expected (Approx. 25% evenings/weekends). * Option for 3-2 hybrid work model to align with manager’s schedule.
