OverviewABOUT THE POSITION
VHB's Site Investigation and Remediation team is seeking an experienced Environmental Data GIS Analyst to join our Site Investigation & Remediation practice supporting teams based in New England, New Jersey, and New York. The role will include development and implementation of data management solutions using EQuIS by Earthsoft and other data management platforms.
Responsibilities
Facilitates the integration of the EQuIS data management platform across the VHB footprint in support of federal, state, municipal, and private industry clients.
Assists with laboratory data management and interpretation using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and EQuIS software.Helps to develop dashboard-level access to data and graphics that allow engineers and scientists to efficiently visualize and synthesize data and develop tools for presenting conceptual site models to clients and stakeholders.Supports the integration of field data acquisition using mobile applications such as ESRI ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123.Creates graphics and figures using ArcGIS software for presentation in environmental reports.Facilitates the performance of standard spatial data analysis on ESRI ArcGIS platforms (e.g., buffering, spatial overlays, distance calculations).Researches and corrects problems with data using spatial and logical analyses; Performs data searches and retrievals; Extracts and organizes data; Research source documents to resolve missing or conflicting data; Converts GIS data to and from CAD software format;Manages basic GIS projects or components of more complex GIS projects. Creates and manages online tools using spatial data.Directs and monitors work of less experienced GIS team members. Provides direction and support to ensure departmental effectiveness and efficiency. Orients and trains team members. Provides input into evaluating performance. May act as supervisor in the absence of an actual supervisor.Skills & Knowledge
Well developed knowledge of the principles of geographic information science and GIS technology.Considerable skill in the use of GIS and electronic data management software, particularly the Esri ArcGIS and Earthsoft EQuIS (or similar) platforms.Working knowledge of environmental chemistry and media from the perspective of analytical laboratory data deliverables, including parameters used to assess data quality and useability.Ability to develop and maintain online spatial data tools for non-GIS users.Well developed skill in applying GIS technology to solve difficult analytical problems.Well developed knowledge of relational database management systems and the ability to use the SQL language.Working knowledge of the use of Global Positioning System technology and broad understanding of GPS technology used for data collection on complex projects.Ability to oversee the use of data transformation software to import and export data for use by colleagues.Ability to express meaning through cartography.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers - interested in sharing knowledge and training lower-level GIS and data management system users.Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented.Skills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level.Minimum Requirements
BS in Geology, or Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or GIS5-7 years of experience in GIS and analytical laboratory database management (a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for 2 years of experience)GISP certification a plus.Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $75,000-90,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
