ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Receives and documents initialcomplaints or concerns about workplace misconduct or other inappropriatebehavior from Human Resources staff, managers, other employees, externalparties, and unions. Consults with Manager, Human Resources Operationson next steps. MASSACHUSETTS WATER RESOURCES AUTHORITY JOB VACANCYANNOUNCEMENT Internal/External Employee Relations Specialist Maintainsan accurate confidential log of complaints and concerns, investigationstatus, and final outcome. Schedules initial and follow-up meetings orpre-disciplinary hearings on behalf of the Manager, Human ResourcesOperations. Serves as note taker in investigatory interviews and duringpre-disciplinary hearings. Drafts questions as needed. Drafts interviewsummaries, witness statements, preliminary investigation reports,disciplinary notices, and other related documents. Immediately elevatesand escalates concerns to Manager, Human Resources Operations when thereare allegations of serious misconduct or complaints involving Non-UnionManagers. Works with Manager, Training and Development or otherappropriate managers to schedule training opportunities to remedyproblematic behavior. Serves as a liaison to managers and supervisors tofield inquiries on employee performance issues such as attendance, workperformance, and other disciplinary issues. SECONDARY DUTIES: Works onspecial projects as needed to support Human Resources Managers. Helpscoordinate annual year of service awards ceremony and extraordinaryservice nominations. Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Bachelor\'s degree in laborrelations, human resources, paralegal studies, business administration,public administration or a related field; and At least two (2) years ofprofessional business or legal experience, including at least one yearin workplace investigations, dispute resolution, case management orhuman resources; or Any equivalent combination of education orexperience. Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm. *This position may beeligible for up 50% telework; an initial waiting period may apply.Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge oflabor and employee relations, personnel administration, complaintresolution, workplace investigations, and disciplinary procedures.Experience in the public sector or a unionized environment preferred.Demonstrated analytical and research skills. Excellent interpersonal,written and oral communication skills. Ability to exercise tact anddiscretion and maintain confidentiality when dealing with complex andhighly sensitive employee relations issues. Ability to work with alllevels within an organization. Ability to work in high pressure or timesensitive work environment. Solid judgment to deal with parties indispute. Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite andweb-based video conferencing and collaboration tools such as WebEx.Ability to travel to MWRA work sites as needed to attend in-personmeetings. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A valid Massachusetts Class D MotorVehicle Operators License.
