Primary Purpose
The Education Pathways Navigator will coordinate “GYO” (Grow Your Own) grant efforts at COCC based on our grant application and state priorities for expanding the educator pipeline and supporting emerging educators in the Central Oregon region.
This position is grant funded through June 30, 2025. Continuation of this position after June 30, 2025 is dependent upon continued grant funds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Grant Administration:
Track the latest Education (ED)/ Early Childhood Education ( ECE ) information from the state of Oregon, such as:
High need licensure areas
High need child care areas
Trial apprenticeship and residency programs
Transfer options, formats, applications and degrees
Scholarship applications
Changes to licensure requirements
Updates to ORO (Oregon’s Registry Online – database that stores education and training of Oregon’s childhood care and education professionals)
Partners in Practice Grant
Workforce Needs
Manage grant-funded budgets and track spending.
Track Education career program enrollment in order to provide targeted marketing as needed.
Develop systems for data collection related to current grants in ED/ ECE program.
ED/ ECE Program Support:
Connect students with employment opportunities in ED/ ECE for school-to-work pipeline.
Manage job posts on ECE Resource Center in Canvas
Administrative duties, including:
taking notes at meetings
setting and sending out agendas for meetings
managing ED/ ECE files
purchasing and organizing supplies as needed
Supervise the ED/ ECE work-study student in all areas of their job description
Assist in building and maintaining strong connections/relationships between ED/ ECE and current/ potential partners, such as school districts, early learning centers, the High Desert ESD , NeighborImpact, etc.
Work with ECE Program Director and ED Program Director to invite current and potential students to explore a wide variety of careers in Education, sustain their motivation and success during their COCC experience and ultimately help students prepare for the next steps in their professional journey.
Student Support and Outreach:
Work with the COCC Admissions to increase invitations for diverse students
to participate in the ED/ ECE Program
to participate in summer offerings
to apply for scholarships
Work with MPR to update and expand the ED/ ECE outreach materials.
Provide advising support for students in collaboration with ED/ ECE faculty & CAP Services.
Assist in planning the Future Educators Fair for prospective students.
Organize and participate in outreach opportunities in coordination with A & R Office.
High School Partnerships:
Coordinate with the Office of High School Partnerships:
to assist high school students in College Now and Expanded Options classes and strengthen the high school-to-college pipeline for students pursuing Education careers
to support and communicate with ED 101 (dual credit) teachers and students in high schools
Oversee the ED Ambassador Program:
Maintain weekly schedules and training events for Ambassadors
Coordinate classroom visits
Oversee Ambassador communication with high school mentees

Demonstrated event planning skills including marketing, facilitating, scheduling, managing large groups, recruiting guest speakers, and customer service.
Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and public relations skills:
Creating informational brochures
Using Canva
Facilitating video production (storyboarding, visual design, facilitating interviews, etc.)
COCC website editing
Photography
Social media marketing including student take-overs
Possess flexibility to regularly drive to high schools, job fairs, career events, Education/Early Childhood Education facilities, and other COCC campuses. Includes some out-of-area travel.
Possess reliable transportation and be able to drive in potentially adverse conditions on a regular basis.
Ability to drive a vehicle in rural and metropolitan areas in various weather conditions. Ability to work cooperatively with and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas or experience.
Ergonomic Requirements
Regular office hours are established between 8 am – 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.
Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to work at a workstation for extended periods. Requires to write, read written materials and computer screens, and ability to use telephonic conversations. Must be able to move boxes or cases of College materials (up to approximately 25 lbs.) for display and distribution at on- and off-campus locations. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood education, social work, or related field.Experience:
Two years’ experience working in a higher education, public school setting or an equivalent field, such as social service, community outreach, or related areas.License:
Valid Oregon Driver’s License, as significant travel is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Master’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field.Experience:
Experience working in a high school or college educational setting with a focus on student recruitment, advising, academic planning, teaching, or group facilitation.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
Experience with outreach, event planning, or marketing.
