The Community Engagement Coordinator has a key role in the outreach and awareness, education offerings, communication that contributes to expanding Minnesota inclusive higher education initiatives. The Coordinator position requires strong organization and project management skills and an understanding of high-quality inclusive higher education for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The Coordinator will help plan and implement the outreach and awareness efforts to connect with prospective college students with IDD, their families, educators, faculty and staff, social service staff, disability nonprofits, and state agency partners. The Coordinator will lead the planning for learning community events, an annual conference and presentations as well as prepare the related communications. The Coordinator will support and collaborate with the TA Center Director with the Advisory committee, technical assistance and the periodic newsletter. This position requires solid decision-making skills and the ability to work independently as well as on cross functional teams. State and occasional national travel is expected. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to the understanding of diversity and inclusion and cultural competence working with diverse and sometimes marginalized populations. Job Responsibilities Community Outreach and Awareness (50%) Develop and execute statewide engagement strategies. Cultivate and sustain community relationships that raise the awareness of higher education. Coordinate and develop student and family liaisons to support inclusive higher education through volunteering, outreach and awareness program support and advocacy. Respond to the needs of statewide school districts, support agencies and prospective student/families to provide effective and useful resources, education and awareness. Create materials to support education and outreach including targeted messaging and informational resources. Review and disseminate recommended enhancements to inclusive higher education initiatives based on student, family, and community needs and feedback. Provide focused outreach to key stakeholders including prospective students, families, educators, and disability organizations. Collaborate with ICI Researchers on stakeholder surveys and data collection. Plan and facilitate training and education events (25%) Plan, coordinate and facilitate the MIHEC learning community events, including timely topics, presenters and resources Coordinate and prepare presentation slides with presenter. Assure that the learning community events and materials are accessible (in person or virtual) and request ASL interpreters as needed. Coordinate with the ICI Communications/Accessibility staff to review/convert resource and edit event recordings. Lead annual conference event planning including selecting dates, locations and meeting accessibility and technology needs. Plan the annual conference topics, presenters and resource materials. Collaborate and assist with other presentations Communication and dissemination (15%) Contribute to the periodic newsletter publication. Prepare and disseminate event and conference announcements and promotional materials. Assist with website content updates. Prepare and support social media content and dissemination. Coordinate with ICI Communications, Website and Tech Support Teams. Request event announcements and information distribution by ally organizations. Administration Support (10%) Assist with the Advisory committee meeting planning and communications. Respond to requests for technical assistance and resources. Qualifications Required Qualifications Advanced degree in education, social services or related discipline. with at least 4 years of experience or a BA/BS with at least 6 years of relevant post degree experience. Demonstrated experience working with persons with disabilities, families, educators and state agency staff. Demonstrated experience in training and curriculum development and implementation. Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint), word processing (e.g. Word), cloud storage and file sharing (e.g. Box and Google Drive), instant messaging (e.g. Slack) and online meeting (e.g. Zoom) software. Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in human services, education, social work, or related field. 5 years of experience in disability field, including working knowledge of disability policy, programs, advocacy, and history. Experience or solid working knowledge of inclusive higher education. Experience in multi-year training and technical assistance project development and implementation. Experience writing and editing accessible training and resource content for grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and readability by various audiences. Ability to problem-solve and make decisions independently. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to multitask. Ability to support the development and maintenance of databases and websites. Ability to travel within Minnesota and nationally.
