As a member of the healthcare team and under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the OB Technician assists nursing personnel in the delivery of patient care in the Snuggery Suite, taking into account the patient's special or age-related needs. The OB Technician serves as the scrub technician in Cesarean Sections and selected OB/GYN procedures. This position assumes responsibility for a safe environment and appropriate utilization of resources; directs and performs cleaning, maintenance and processing of instruments and equipment; and restocks and prepares rooms within the Unit. The OB Tech also provides rapid response to patient/family needs and requests. Education/Experience: High School Graduate or GED. Experience in patient care preferred. Experience in scrub role preferred. License Practical Nurse/LPN or completion of OR Technician Program required Knowledge of surgical aseptic technique and basic Operating Room procedures and equipment preferred. Note: Completion of Glens Falls Hospital Operating Room Orientation will be required for all hires. Skills/Abilities: Able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing with other nursing personnel, patients and physicians. Ability to work effectively with other nursing personnel, patients, physicians, and members of other departments under the direction of a RN. Ability to recognize patient care problems, react appropriately in-patient care emergencies and communicate pertinent information to the responsible RN. Ability to complete basic mathematical calculation. Dependable Demonstrated adaptability to change Exercises safe judgement in decision making. Licenses/Certificates/Registrations: Must meet NYS requirements for position BLS certification (or obtained within specified timeframe from date of hire) Salary Range The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $22.27 to $35.88 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
