TITLE: Director, Real Estate, Gaming & Leisure, Corporate Banking
DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Director, Real Estate, Gaming & Leisure, Corporate Banking in New York, NY to be responsible for the profitable performance of an assigned portfolio of prospects and accounts. Manage and grow the total account relationship, including analyzing, recommending, negotiating, closing, syndicating, and managing loan transactions to achieve financial targets. Acts as primary officer for most customers and prospects and may jointly manage= some major accounts and large complex transactions with a more senior officer. Manage and grow portfolio of accounts to achieve established financial targets. This involves market research and identification of suitable prospects; call planning, including the introduction of specialized resources, where needed; coordinating with the Execution Team in the identification, analysis, structuring and preparation of credit presentations with recommendations for review by Corporate Credit; and management of all aspects of the client relationship. Works with the broader Corporate Banking team to negotiate loan terms and documentation with borrowers and other banks culminating in the closing of transactions. Maintain a high degree of industry knowledge and expertise across the various real estate subsectors. Coordinates the marketing/delivery of non-credit products to customers and prospects by working closely with the Bank's specialized product groups (Trade Finance, Derivatives, Cash Management, Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, etc.) and the Execution Team. Supports Global Loan Syndications with the syndication of loans to prospective banks, prepares and disseminates syndication materials, manages bank group presentations and fields questions from syndicate banks. Leads/participates in the training/development of more junior officers, when required.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: analyzing complex risk and lending problems; applying product knowledge to implement credit processes and risk appetite to clients; utilizing credit analysis skills including review of legal documents; implementing marketing, negotiation, and communication for client coverage; utilizing knowledge of financial markets, products, lending, transaction execution, cash management, and FX; and supporting structuring, credit, and financial analysis on unsecured and secured lending basis. Four (4) years of experience must include: supporting lending, transaction structuring, knowledge of ECM, DCM, trade finance, and hedging. The offered salary is between $250,000 and $250,000 per year, 40 hours per week. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site. 20% travel required nationally and internationally.
