Summary
The Director of Gaming reports to the VP, Special Amenities and will be responsible for overseeing the Company’s gaming operations, including those operated directly by the Company and those operated by third parties, Lottery for Company locations, and Motel operations. This oversight includes monitoring and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations., including Title 31 and the Bank Secrecy Act. This person will also file such tax returns, applications for licenses and other filings as are necessary from time to time to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for timely filing of gaming tax returns, information returns and reports.
Responsible for maximizing the Company’s share of income from casino and Skill game operations by third parties.
Monitors proposed legislation related to gaming to become aware of threats and/or respond to opportunities for the Company’s gaming activities.
Prepare such reports and make recommendations for opportunities to maximize the Company’s share of income from casino and VLT/VGT operations by third parties.
Work closely with the Special Amenities Group and Regional Vice Presidents to support virtual gaming tables (VGT) and video lottery terminals (VLT).
Direct and participate in the research and analysis of opportunities and expansion strategies.
Through coordination with the Special Amenities Group and Legal Department, coordinate first time and renewal applications for gaming licenses in various jurisdictions and ensure payment of required licenses and fees.
Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Working with Human Resources and others, as applicable, establish operating policies and procedures applicable to operations of the various gaming or skill operations.
Work with Accounting/Tax/Finance to timely file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax and informational reports and payment of fees, including gross gaming fees, quarterly licenses, electronic filing of W2-G and 1042S forms and Standard Financial Statements.
Coordinate response to audits, reviews and inquiries from gaming agencies, independent auditors, and accountants.
Prepare and maintain reports to analyze revenue and expenses for all gaming locations. Develop reports to evaluate, explain and grow profitability of various segments.
Function as the Title 31 Compliance Officer that includes scheduling and conducting quarterly Title 31 Compliance Committee meetings. Ensure compliance with Title 31 requirements, including filing CTR and SAR forms online and ensuring proper record retention.
Coordinate with the Company’s Gaming Compliance Committee.
Manage third party casino and VGT operator relations and growth opportunities, including evaluating gaming equipment and needs to maximize profitability.
Responsible for the Company’s Problem Gambling Program.
Motel operations and reporting, including relationship with franchisor.
Perform other related work as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience preferred. MBA or Masters degree a plus.
5+ years of experience in a compliance and accounting leadership position in the gaming industry preferred.
Extensive knowledge of nationwide casino, VGT, VLT and amusement games operations and practices required.
Familiarity and experience with back-office functions including finance, accounting, and tax.
Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations relative to casino gaming, VGTs, VLTs, Skill games, and lottery, including FinCEN Title 31 and Bank Secrecy Act requirements preferred.
