Job Overview
This role will be responsible for modifying and designing parts and manufacturing processes. They will work with the design and manufacturing engineers for the product line to reduce the cost of finished goods. A strong cross-disciplinary background is advantageous, as projects involve aspects of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, casting, forging, injection or compression molding.
Experience in one or more of the following will also be helpful: projects focused on productivity value creation, cost reduction and margin improvement, product and value chain evaluations, ideation workshops, working with cross functional teams and more.
A Day In The Life
Work with teams from various business units to execute on Design to Value (DtV) projects. Will include being “hands-on” with idea generation, financial justification, component design, process design, tooling design, testing and implementation.
Determine cost drivers to identify material cost take out opportunities
Evaluate manufacturing processes, component designs, and assembly designs to identify time saving opportunities. Then, take identified opportunities through implementation.
Prepare insights and DtV guidelines for in person ideation workshops
Estimate financial impact and prepare business case
What will help you thrive in this role?
Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience, 10+ years
Experience in 3D Modeling and FMEA software (Inventor preferred)
Taking projects from an idea to shipping parts
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Capable of working independently as well as with a cross functional team
Demonstrable experience in two or more of the following:
Full product life cycle insights with an emphasis on productivity
Supply chain insights
Manufacturing and commercialization experience
Assessing value propositions
Maintaining and organizing multiple projects and timelines
