  WHO WE ARE

  We offer internships for students interested in learning more about environmental positions at the state level while gaining meaningful professional experiences. The intern will work directly with staff and executives on key environmental issues in a variety of capacities throughout the department.

  WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE:

  The chosen intern will:

  Perform comprehensive review of available scientific literature related to those Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CEC’s) being considered for future sampling in Michigan pertaining primarily to toxicological studies.

  Can also include one or more of the following:

  Potential Biological Receptors

  Environmental Impact

  Fate and transport

  Treatment

  Disposal

  The goal is to build a prioritized list of CEC for Michigan, and regions within the state, to help with decision making when it comes to future sampling efforts for EGLE and informing stakeholders on potential risks to public health and the environment

  This internship isfully remote, however interns are expected to pick up and set up their EGLE issued equipment at a physical EGLE district office.

  Interns are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week and can work up to 40 hours per week. Days and times of work will be coordinated around the student’s academic schedule and the needs of EGLE’s Environmental Health and Safety Team

  Students seeking academic credit for this internship experience must work with their academic institution and the internship supervisor to coordinate any required paperwork or project tracking requirements.

  Required Education and Experience

  Interns are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week and can work up to 40 hours per week. Days and times of work will be coordinated around the student’s academic schedule and the needs of the department assigned.

  Education

  Current enrollment in a post-secondary education institution at a Junior or Senior level by fall of 2024

  Actively pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in one of the following:

  Toxicology, Public Health or Environmental Health

  Experience

  No specific type or amount is required.
