rWorking in partnership with the campus community, the Campus SafetyOfficer is responsible for helping to create a welcoming, safe andinclusive living, learning and working environment - serving as asupportive resource for community members in need of services. Groundedin a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, the Officer isresponsible for positively impacting campus through building communityand relationships, promoting accountability, reinforcing communitystandards and College policies/procedures as well as maintaining thesafety and security of the campus for students, faculty, staff andguests/visitors. Bennington\'s Campus Safety approach is one of harm andrisk-reduction, and is focused on finding the learning moments possiblein any given interaction and honoring student growth and development.This approach is applied to all aspects of student engagement includingall policy enforcement and general service requests.

Available Schedules:
Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 am-4:00 pm (full-time, 40 hours/week)Per diem (allows for work on an as-needed basis)Key Responsibilties
Serve as a supportive resource to students, faculty, staff andguests of the College - engage in first level response to incidentsand service requests to help support the well-being of all thosebeing served. Partner with Student Life to build community throughinteractions with students beyond policy enforcement.Provide timely response to service calls including, but not limitedto, offering directions, transportation or escort assistance,vehicle assistance and building access.Respond to routine telephone inquiries and serve asdispatch/coordinator when needed. Protect College property fromcrime, fire, vandalism and accidents. Perform safety patrols invehicle and on foot. Secure buildings and property; reportmaintenance issues.Coordinate/partner with Student Life, Psychological Services andHealth Services to manage emergency situations involving studentsafety, health and wellbeing. Provide basic first aid and act asFirst Responder during emergencies, as needed. Coordinate and serveas the liaison between the College and outside agencies such as lawenforcement, fire, or EMS.Enforce safety, traffic, and parking regulations; assist withpedestrian and vehicle traffic flow as needed.Conduct timely and complete case investigations. Compile factualincident reports; attend student judicial meetings as required.As a designated essential employe , must be able to remain on dutybeyond regular shift when circumstances warrant coverage.* *Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent required; Bachelor\'s degree ineducation, social sciences or related field preferred. Campus safetyand/or educational experience preferred,
Candidates should possess demonstrated experience positively affectingothers in a relatable community-based setting, with an emphasis onproviding safe and supportive services in stressful situations,including mental health emergencies, with a diverse student, faculty,staff, guest population.
Candidates must be comfortable with and/or have experience working withstudents (or other populations) from diverse ethnic/racial backgrounds.
Experience in recognizing emergency/high stress situations andeffectively de-escalating/resolving highly desired. Strong negotiationand problem-solving skills required. Must be able to remain professionaland calm during stressful situations and be able to treatsensitive/confidential information with discretion and tact.
Must possess a collaborative and collegial style with the ability tomaintain balance, consistency and flexibility in decision making.Must beeffective and work well in a collaborative environment.
